Bricklayer’s Cricket Team Brings Home The Putney Cup
Jul 16th, 2010 by admin
The Bricklayer’s Arms cricket team, now in their third full season, have won their first real trophy.
Becky has put the Putney Cup, an engraved tankard, in pride of place above the bar after the team beat South-West London Camra in the semi-final and then Fawe Park in the final of the tournament on Sunday July 4.
Although the cricket team cabinet (just above the skittles) did contain one wonky statuette last year, this was for coming third: winning the “plate” final in the same tournament last year. This year we have gone one better in securing the real thing.
If anyone wants to play for what organiser Chris Locke hailed as “this happy and winning team”, please contact him on chris.locke@standard.co.uk
