I am one of ten British runners competing in the North Pole Marathon on April 5th. The race is run on ice floes, floating on the Arctic Ocean, in temperatures of around -30 degrees. I hope to raise about £10,000 for Headway, a local charity that helps victims of brain injury.
As many of you know I re-opened The Bricklayer’s Arms back in 2005 as a direct result of my sister’s sudden death from a brain haemorrhage. Although I didn’t know about Headway at the time, I have since discovered that they do the most amazing work with victims of stroke, their families, and in particular with children who have lost one or both parents to brain injury- related deaths.
If you would like to help me there are several ways of doing this. At the pub there are collection tins and sponsorship forms behind the bar. Alternatively if you can sponsor me online by clicking to my page on Charity Giving.
I would like to make clear that I have paid the entrance fee for the race from my own pocket so all donations will go directly to Headway. Thank you in anticipation of your kind generosity. I’d also appreciate it if you’re able to help with ideas for sponsors to help my reach my target of £10,000
